“This is Your Purpose in Life!”

The night everything changed! Throughout history, there have been phenomenal, life-altering events – invention of the wheel, the printing press, discovery of flight, landing on the moon, air conditioning, smartphones, etc. However, I would submit that the greatest of all events in the history of mankind was the birth of Christ.

It’s Christmas, and this season should always beg the question, “What is your God-given purpose?” Many reply “to worship God” or “to obey God” or “to serve God.” Some even submit “to love God.” I have many problems with these responses. For starters, and honestly speaking, I don’t always worship, obey, and serve God. “Prone to wander” and all that. Additionally, I must admit that I don’t always love God. I certainly can’t even pretend to love God the way He deserves to be loved. Also, if fulfilling my God-given purpose is dependent upon me to perform a function, I’m pretty much guaranteed to fail.

I contend that our God-given purpose must be something outside of us, completely apart from our strength, abilities, and intellect. Our purpose will never be found within ourselves… and it cannot be dependent upon us. I imagine that mountain-top guru saying, “The answers are within yourself.” Haha! Impossible! Because I’m the one that’s jacked-up! (Lol!) Only God is capable of fulfilling the purpose He created me for. And, the hard truth is that our fundamental, original purpose can only come from Him. Are you intimately acquainted with these basic “Principles of Production”?

1.Everything has a creator.
2.Everything is thought of before it is created.
3.Everything is created with a purpose.
4.Only the creator of a thing is qualified to tell you the purpose of that thing.
5.Whenever the purpose of a thing is not known, it is in a state of abuse.

So, my assertion is that our primary, foundational, God-given purpose literally begins with “being loved by God.” To state another way would be “to let God love you.” Can you imagine what would happen today if the masses yielded to the genuine, deep love of God? Hearts would melt, be humbled, and be rapidly transformed. Mankind was created in love, for His love (read Eph 1:3-11). And the overwhelming proof is the miraculous, mind-blowing birth of Christ! God came to love! God became flesh! Wait, wuh??? I find myself constantly wrestling with, “How is this possible?” And, “Why?!!” To put it simply, because God gave up everything He loved that He might gain our love (Rom 8:31-39). And I must add that letting God love me authentically leads me to worship, obedience, and service.

I feel that today, and to a growing degree, we’ve lost this concept of letting God love us, and have replaced it with our works or unbelief. And with this increasing loss of the love of God, there’s increasing pain and death in our lives. “Yet the Lord still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love; he will conquer you to bless you, just as he said. For the Lord is faithful to his promises. Blessed are all those who wait for him to help them.” (Isaiah 30:18)

I challenge you to “think on these things” and share these thoughts with family and friends, starting today. Honestly, in the midst of all our loss, pain, confusion, worries, inadequacies, guilt, shame, and regrets… the love of God, through Christ, could be… should be… our anchor. We just need to remember God and return to Him. He gave us His son, Jesus the Christ, and His promises that 1) He would never leave us or forsake us (Deu 31:6), 2) That He’s always working things out on our behalf (Rom 8:28), 3) That He will finish the good work that He started in us (Php 1:6; Heb 12:2), and 4) That one day He’s gonna wipe away every tear (Rev 21:4).

The message of the birth of Christ is everlasting love and hope — perfect love, hope of salvation, hope of restoration, and hope of life, eternal. Share this Love and Hope today. Remind people of Christ and God’s pursuit of us.

Koda and Kleo – recent additions to our family. We lost Killie, our cat of fifteen years, back in the spring. After a time of mourning and healing, I prayed and asked God for two female kittens – one gray and one orange. Weeks later, we were blessed with these two. Our hearts are full.

Agree with us in prayer:

a. For reinstatement of Brig ministries (Wednesday night Bible Study and Friday morning Sexual Integrity & Restoration (SIR) classes.

b. Pray for mature, Qualified Families and Permanent Personnel to co-labor with us in this northern-most, remote area of Okinawa. Henoko/Schwab outreach carries a constant rebuilding nature due its high turnover rate and operational tempo. We literally rebuild a congregation every six months and gather new members. Pray for our strength, wisdom, and resources as weekly we gather sheep and convert goats.

c. Pray for our current schedule, i.e. finances, resources, wisdom, strategies, and strength:
▪Sun: Share/Report Christians In Action ministries
▪Mon: Radical & Relevant (R&R) @7pm▪Wed: Brig Christian Fellowship (BCF) @7pm (PRAY for Reinstatement)
▪Thu: Publish Think On These Things newsletters
▪Thu: Publish YouTube Videos (Channel: YahwehHasASon)
▪Fri: Sexual Integrity & Restoration (SIR) @9am (PRAY for Reinstatement)

Sandy and I have been described as “ones who’ve left the ninety-nine for the one” (Mt 18:10-14). Since the Schwab/Henoko area is northernmost and remote (the “one”), it’s quite challenging and different than planting and building in the more central, populated Foster/Kadena area (the “ninety-nine”). Planting and sustaining a ministry in the Schwab/Henoko takes an unorthodox faith and calling. Taking the road less traveled seems to be a recurring theme in my life. (Shhhh… don’t tell Sandy. Lol!) We could use your help.

In closing:

Saints, thank you for your prayers. Through your petitions, you are benefactors in the harvest, here.

We remain focused on making disciples for the Kingdom and glory of God! We immerse, expose, and involve all people with the Word of God. As a matter of fact, I placed a yellow warning sign at the entrance of the Church. It reads, “Warning: In this sanctuary you will hear the Word of God. You will be accountable for what you hear.” Weekly, we confront people with the love, power, and truth of God’s Word. Honestly, that’s really all I can give people.

Please be reminded that you can help us continue making these disciples by partnering with us through your monetary gifts and donations. Financial contributions can be made online through Christians In Action. Or, you can mail contributions to the address listed below.

I declare that you are fully persuaded that when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons! (Gal 4:4-5)
